A lobby card for the theatrical play The Elephant Man which won Broadway's 1979 Tony Award for Best Play for playwright Bernard Pomerance. Another Tony went to Jack Hofsiss, the director, who at 28 was the youngest person ever to win that award.Dimensions: 14” x 22” /

This one is on cardstock and is in great condition. Light scuffs and light imperfections along the edges from normal movement and storage over the years. No tears, folds, or hard creases.
The play, aside from the Tonys, got a ton of critical and audience acclaim.
In the play’s next casting phase, director Hofsiss recruited none other than Ziggy Stardust himself, David Bowie. In mid-July, Bowie flew to San Francisco to catch the last performance by Philip Anglim, the actor who he was replacing in the lead role. The Elephant Man with Bowie began its run on Broadway at the Booth Theatre on September 23, 1980.
