    Description

    Peak Luxury 0k MSRP
    BEAUTIFUL Rebuilt
    V12 5.4l M73 Engine,
mated to a ZF 5 speed automatic transmission.
Unique BMW restoration project for someone handy with electronics or an awesome donor motor for a V12 engine swap project, with alternate non-BMW open source ECU option (
    RusEFI)
    .
Engine and mechanical all stock. Comes with factory BMW analog car phone and working stock CD changer in the trunk, aftermarket amp and small subwoofer.
    History:
Purchased in 2016 and driven for ~ 1 year before it overheated and started making top-end lifter noise. Tore down the motor and found the heads were damaged, so proceeded with a full top-end rebuild including 00 in part receipts for new heads, fuel injector service, new sensors, belts, hoses, gaskets, seals, powder coated intake runners etc. (see PDF link for details).
Post-rebuild, drove it for about 6 months and ~1k miles when the rubber seal on the ECU(DME)/TCM/Fuse/Relay box located under the hood failed, allowing water to collect damaging some relays and engine control modules.
All affected relays and some relay sockets were replaced as well as both ECUs (DMEs) with professionally tested/cloned/programmed units (receipts included).
With the replacement ECMs (DMEs) the engine starts right up, revs and idles smoothly (see video links) however CEL light is on and info center is showing a
    "Trans Failsafe" error code
. Car comes with a replacement TCM (Transmission Control Module) which needs programming to clear the error codes.
Alternately, the BMW M73 V12 engine is supported by RusEFI, a low-cost, open source aftermarket ECU project, making this motor a great candidate for an engine swap project, free from the legacy BMW electronics

Free of body rust/corrosion, normal wear & tear to original factory finishes
Includes misc. spare parts i.e. CD changer, hoses, electronics/relays etc.
    The Bad:
Car starts/runs and is movable, however is
    not currently roadworthy
due to CEL and "Trans Failsafe" error codes
ABS light is on - ABS sensors were replaced with aftermarket parts however light is still on
Rear passenger door locks/unlocks but doesn't open
Connector for the driver side shock absorber sensor/control is broken
Clear coat has worn through on front driver fender
Wear and tear on paint including dents/scratches on rear passenger driver door and on trunk lid
