    Description

CABIN IN THE SKY Playbill signed four times by
    TODD DUNCAN
1941. DUNCAN starred along with the incomparable Ethel Waters in this classic American musical with a score by Vernon Duke and John Latouche featuring the ever-popular "Taking a Chance on Love". And the superb choreography was by the now-iconic Katherine Dunham. TODD DUNCAN was the original Porgy in the Gershwins' PORGY and BESS and starred in the Kurt Weill musical "Lost in the Stars". He was the first singer to record "Unchained Melody". DUNCAN was a renowned baritone and the first African-American to sing with the New York City Opera. In this Playbill he has signed on the cover, on the title page, on the last page and above his name on the cast list. There is an ad in this Playbill for TWELFTH NIGHT starring HELEN HAYES and, as a bonus, HAYES has signed beside the ad.(See photographs) The Playbill is in very good condition. There is a date penned at the bottom of page 1, page 2, the next to last page and twice on the back cover. Slight tanning front and back covers. All pages are still tightly bound and intact, Except as noted above, the pages are unmarked throughout. Not to mention that spectacular photograph of Ethel Waters on the front cover. And that silly ad for Chesterfields on the back cover.
