Designed by The Louvre (Paris) instructed Jeanette Dyer Spencer, this limited edition is a reproduction of one of the 5x6 foot stained glass windows in the Great Lounge of the hotel and includes motifs she observed in Native American baskets.”
    “Size: approximately 10” x10”
“ABOUT GLASSMASTERS:The Glassmasters craft shop (now closed) ended production in 2004/2005 and was located in Richmond, Virginia. Their craftspeople took pride in creating the finest stained glass reproductions available in the world.Glassmasters’ artisans continued the traditions of the American stained glass craftsmanship. With each new design, the artists first determined which of the 1000+ colors in the Glassmasters’ palette met the exacting requirements of the design. The artist began with meticulously executed drawings, and then determined the area and density of each enamel that would be applied to create a perfectly colored design. The application of the color was a slow process. Starting with European-made cathedral glass, the colors were individually applied and then dried at temperatures reaching 300 degrees Fahrenheit. Each enamel was cooled and inspected- one color at a time - before the next enamel was applied. Determined by the complexity of the design, this process was repeated as many as twenty-one times before the design enters the kiln to be fired. When fired, each design reaches temperatures of nearly 1,100 degrees Fahrenheit, and the enamels become permanently fused into the glass. as inherent in stained glass found in museums and private collections throught the world, each stained glass color will be as transparent and brilliant a century from now as they appear today.”
Sellers note: this piece is as they said, gorgeous and a significant Ahwahnee symbol. I will ship it via UPS and have them package it professionally ...hence the shipping price. I will refund any overage on shipping if it costs less to do so. Generally, I end up adding to the balance.
PLEASE ASK ANY QUESTIONS AS I DO NOT REFUND-THANK YOU.
