This is the VERY RARE ( Prototype ), 2001 Tokyo Japan Calendar Series - January - Geisha with Samisen Guitar pin. This pin was not produced for, nor was it sold to the general public. Likewise, it was never issued to the Staff members. Designed as a Prototype pin to determine which colors & design would eventually be used in the Regular Production pin issued by the Tokyo, Japan Hard Rock Cafe !
The front of this Prototype pin features a green dressed Geisha girl playing a Samisen Guitar.
This Prototype pin varies from the Regular Production Pin at ( 5 ) different areas:
(1) the Bachi (the wooden stick used to play the Samisen) is White and of a different shape. The Regular Production pin is Brown.
(2) The Kimono green dress only has the Flower design at the bottom. The Regular Production pin has the Flower design over the entire Kimono.
(3) The Kimono green dress does not have text or Japanese letters in the lower left. The Regular Production pin has the text "JANUARY 2001" and the Japanese characters "Mutsuki" meaning "January" in english.
(4)The "Hard Rock CAFE" logo is BLUE with "Hard Rock" in red letters and "TOKYO" on a light pink banner. The Regular Production pin has an ORANGE colored HRC Logo.
(5) The back has ( 2 ) lines of text - "HARD ROCK CAFE" and "MADE IN CHINA". The Regular Production pin has ( 4 ) lines of text.
This Mint condition Prototype Pin is much more desirable and exceedingly harder to acquire than the Regular Production Pin ! A very elegantly styled pin which is over ( 10 ) years ago !
