    Description

    This is a rare October 1942 "Playgoer" playbill from the Post-Broadway engagement of the MOSS HART, KURT WEILL and IRA GERSHWIN musical "LADY IN THE DARK" at Ford's Theatre in Baltimore, Maryland. (The Original Broadway production opened January 23rd, 1941 at the Alvin Theatre in New York City and ran for 162 performances before taking a summer hiatus and brief tour. The show returned to the Alvin Theatre September 2nd, 1941 for an additional 305 performances before returning to the road.)
    The musical starred GERTRUDE LAWRENCE (shown in the cover photo) and featured RICHARD HALE, JEANNE SHELBY, GEDDA PETRY, ADRIENNE MOORE, MARGARET DALE, ANN LEE, ERIC BROTHERSON, HUGH MARLOWE, WILLARD PARKER, EDWARD BROWNE, JOHN SWEET, JOHN LESLIE, HELENE YOUNG, ROSE MARIE ELLIOTT, MARGARET GIBSON, CHRISTINE HORN, NICHOLAS SAUNDERS, JACK GEER, BETTY BLAIR, CHARLES TATE and the ALBERTINA RASCH DANCERS
