    Description

This is a complete set of the “Yosemite Sentinel” for 1976!!! The complete week-to-week goings on in Yosemite 45 years ago. The Sentinel was published by Yosemite Park and Curry Company for the information of residents of Yosemite National Park. Approximately 11” x 8 1/2”. Usually 4 pages but longer when they switched to a monthly issue. Here are all 36 issues from 1976. There is a complete run of weekly issues through July 30. Then they switched to monthly issues for the remainder of the year, so there are single issues for August, September, October, November, and December. There was a “bonus” issue for Christmas. (See scans for examples.) (See attached scan of an article about “The Birth of The Sentinel”). I scanned all 4 pages of the first issue of the year to give an idea about the topics covered on a random issue. Then I scanned various covers and pages from a sample of other issues (articles about: Herbert Sonn, the “Birdman”, by Shirley Sargent; an article I wrote about Edwin Moore, “A Partner on the South Fork”; an article I wrote about the Wawona Tunnel Tree; an article I wrote about the Yosemite school; Union Election; High Sierra Camps; and another article I wrote, “Name That Valley,” about the various names for Yosemite.) NOTE: I have various issues through 1978. I will continue to list all the copies I have for each year as a “lot” on eBay, so please watch for those if interested in what was happening in the Yosemite “community” nearly 50 years ago.
BACKGROUND: The Yosemite Sentinel started in 1941 as a mimeographed newsletter. It became a glossy 4 page publication in 1960. The “last issue” was October 17, 1969. But it was obviously resurrected in 1974, if not before. It is fascinating reading because it included so much current information, but both concession employees as well as NPS. Also covered the ski club (Winter Club), Yosemite school, things people had for sale, courses being offered by Merced College, and the “Community Calendar”. The range is very broad.
    GENERAL:
Please ask any questions and know what you are buying before you bid. I am very happy to send additional information or photographs to potential bidders.
All items are sold "As Is". SHIPPING: Buyer pays for Shipping & Handling (S&H).
It will be sent USPS unless the buyer specifies and pays for another method.
If you prefer a certain method of shipment, please advise me promptly so I can determine the S&H for your preferred method of shipment. I do combine shipping, so if you win more than one item, do not pay until you receive an invoice from me. PAYMENT:
I accept and prefer PayPal. Payment must be received within 7 days of end of auction unless prior arrangements have been made. I will accept checks but they must clear the bank before an item is shipped (usually 7-10 days). RETURN POLICY: I make every effort to write accurate listings and include images of the items I am selling. I also try to package things for mailing so they will arrive in their as-listed condition. Please ask questions ahead of time and pay for insurance if you want it. I will refund purchase price and initial shipping on an item the buyer has a legitimate reason for not accepting. All items qualify for returns within 30 days of receipt. Buyer is responsible for return shipping on any item that is not damaged. FEEDBACK: Feedback is extremely important to us and eBay. If there are any issues, PLEASE contact me BEFORE leaving a neutral or negative rating so that we can resolve any concerns. Please do not penalize me if I have to issue you a refund. If you are satisfied with our transaction, please take a moment to leave Positive Feedback. Thanks!
